Take your honeymoon, anniversary or family vacation at this clean, comfortable and romantic log cabin just a short stroll from a crystal clear mountain lake, where you can fish, swim, kayak, canoe or rent a pontoon boat. Or just enjoy the seasonal mountain view and peace from the covered porch.

Inside, you will find all the comforts of home - a cozy living room with two leather reclining sofas and gas log rock fireplace. An entertainment center with a 32 inch TV, plus a home theater projector and sound system with an 84 inch big projection screen, VCR, DVD, and DirecTV TOTAL CHOICE PREMIER Satellite television with NFL SUNDAY TICKET and over 215 channels including HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and Starz movies. Cabin also has a game room with a pool table.

Your log cabin near the lake comfortably sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms with king beds. 2 of the bedrooms are in the loft, they are separate, but have only 3 walls, the front is open. The game room has 3 sleeper sofas, but they are older and not very comfortable. Will soon add a bunk bed with futon sofa below. A baby crib is stored in the master bedroom closet.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare all your meals at the cabin - refrigerator with icemaker, stove, microwave, blender, coffee-maker, toaster, dishwasher, pots and eating and cooking utensils.

Outside, the cabin has a covered porch with a hot tub spa, a swing, a picnic table and a charcoal grill.

Bathrobes, linens, towels, hairdryers, paper goods, shampoo and detergents are furnished. Just bring your CDs, DVDs or video tapes, food and charcoal for the grill.

With everything this cabin offers, you may not want to get back in the car. But in the event you should decide to add a little adventure to your getaway, you’ll be just a short drive from white water rafting and kayaking on the Nantahala and Ocoee rivers. Plus all the other great activities the North Carolina Smokies have to offer.

Only a scenic 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Asheville NC, Atlanta GA, Chattanooga, Knoxville TN and Greenville SC.

"I've been sincerely meaning to e-mail you! However I've been keeping busy trying to catch up at work after the vacation. So the bottom line is: I can't tell you what a wonderful time we had!!!! The cabin was very accommodating and spacious! With 9 of us there it worked out perfectly. We followed your directions exactly and thank God we did, because we had NO problems finding the place. That goes for the "girl" car at least... we traveled in two cars from Jacksonville, FL...us girls got in fine...the boys ended up getting lost and got in late Friday night. Main reason? They left my printed out directions in the trunk in someone's suitcase and stubbornly assumed they could figure out directions on their own... :) I told them so. (Honestly, in the back of my mind I was afraid this whole thing was an internet scam up until we pulled in the driveway--due to it being $ SUCH a great deal!

We went rafting Saturday and hiking around the area on Sunday. We never ate out once--on the way in town we stopped at the grocery store and bought enough food to feed a hungry army and cooked and grilled for every meal! It was great! And the dining room table accommodated all of us! We had some rain throughout the trip so we ended up really enjoying the place! So, THANK YOU for such a wonderful vacation!! We were glad to find so many things already there that we needed as well....linens, plenty of towels, robes, wood, satellite radio!, trash bags, etc.

"My family and I had a wonderful family reunion in A Lake Memory and a cabin of yours nearby. The cabin was very large and we were all comfortable with plenty of space to spare. The king size beds were very comfortable and we all slept wonderfully. My son loved the pool table, he had his family members playing with him every opportunity that arose. We loved the kitchen and dining room. We cooked 3 meals a day for 7 days in the kitchen. It was really well equipped with all the pans and utensils we needed. I loved waking up in the morning sipping coffee and eating my mom's homemade cinnamon rolls on the porch. The scenery and sounds were beautiful. This cabin is perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary with its cozy fireplace and romantic hot tub spa; at the same time the spaciousness of the cabin makes it perfect for a large family gathering or reunion.

Area Activities

There's plenty to do in the area. 'A Lake Memory' is just a short drive from the white water rafting, canoeing and kayaking venues on the Nantahala and Ocoee rivers. That's in addition to all the great activities the North Carolina Smokies have to offer. You may bring your own boat or jet ski, or rent a pontoon boat on Lake Nantahala.

Fishing - A low number of boaters makes Nantahala Lake a great fishing lake. You'll find walleye, crappie, sunfish, trout and bass all available for your private fish fry at 'A Lake Memory'. And below the dam, where the river cascades toward the Nantahala Gorge, you'll find some of the best fly fishing spots in the eastern US.

Horseback Riding - Several nearby stables, including Lonesome Dove Stables, offer guided horseback trail riding.

Railroad Excursion - Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, in nearby Dillsboro and Bryson City, offers several scenic excursions.

Mountain Biking - The nearby Tsali trails offer some of the best mountain biking trails. Bikes can be rented at the Nantahala Outdoor Center .

Mountain Waters Scenic Byway

Beginning in Highlands, this 61 miles nationally-recognized byway winds through southern Appalachian hardwood forests, by numerous waterfalls and lakes and through two river gorges. Traveling from Highlands to Almond the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway follows U.S. 64, old U.S. 64, SR 1310 (Wayah Road), and U.S. 19. The last miles of this drive travels through the Nantahala National Forest ending at the Fontana Lake. If you enjoy a scenic drive where you can picnic along the way then this drive is for you. Along the byway you can also enjoy boating, canoeing and rafting, biking, fishing, hiking and swimming. Bring your boat, canoe, or kayak and enjoy a fun-filled day on one of the area lakes or on the Nantahala River.

Areas of Interest Along the Byway:

CULLASAJA GORGE: makes up the first 7.5 miles of this byway. Traveling through the beautiful Cullasaja Gorge, the winding road parallels the Cullasaja River and offers spectacular scenic views of the river and the waterfalls of Highlands on U.S. 64. A side road actually allows you to drive behind Bridal Veil Falls, where the thin "veil" of water falls for 120 feet.

DRY FALLS: You'll find this 75-foot beauty 2.1 miles west of Highlands on U.S. 64. From the parking area, a short paved trail leads you directly behind the waterfall.

CLIFFSIDE LAKE & VAN HOOK GLADE: Cliffside Lake Recreation Area is 4.4 miles west of Highlands and then 1.5 miles off U.S. 64. This area offers camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing and hiking.

WAYAH CREEK: West of Franklin, the byway turns right on old U.S. 64, then left on SR 1310. SR 1310 (Wayah Road) parallels much of the 6-mile stream. The creek is a good fishing stream, but most of the streamside is private land and is posted "no trespassing". Along Wayah Creek is the Arrowood Glade Picnic Area. Wayah Crest Picnic Area is at Wayah Gap.

WAYAH BALD: A side trip to Wayah Bald is well worthwhile. From Wayah Gap, journey 1.3 miles up gravel Forest Road (FR) 69 and see the Wilson Lick Ranger Station. Built about 1913, Wilson Lick was the first ranger station in the Nantahala National Forest. Continue another 3.2 miles up FR 69 to Wayah Bald. Take the short, paved trail to the historic Wayah Bald Fire Tower. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, the tower provides a great view of the southern Appalachian Mountains in Georgia, Tennessee, and both Carolinas. You can picnic nearby at the Wayah Bald Picnic Area. Two long-distance trails, the Appalachian Trail and the Bartram Trail, cross the mountain at the tower.

NANTAHALA LAKE: Located about 6 miles west of Wayah Gap, this lake has 29 miles of shoreline and offers fishing and boating. Boat ramps are available.

NANTAHALA RIVER: This mountain river offers great trout fishing in its upper and lower reaches. The stretch of river above the powerhouse has excellent catch-and-release fishing from spring until early summer.

NANTAHALA RIVER GORGE: The Nantahala River draws many boaters who enjoy whitewater rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. Many businesses along the river offer both guided and unguided raft rentals. Most rafting trips begin from the Nantahala River Launch Site and float down the 8.5-mile whitewater run. About 2.75 miles downriver from this launch site is the Ferebee Memorial Picnic Area, which provides another launch and takeout area. At the lower end of the Nantahala River, a commercial-only takeout and a private boater area are provided. From a wooden walkway, spectators get a thrilling view of the wild ride over the final series of rapids, including Nantahala Falls. Nantahala River outfitters, under Forest Service permit, can help plan trips to fit your skill level and provide any equipment you might need.

FONTANA LAKE: This lake offers great Bass and Pike fishing with 11,685 acres of water surface and also provides recreational water activities such as boating, kneeboarding, swimming, and water skiing. Construction of the 480 foot high Fontana Dam, which was completed in 1944 and is the highest Dam east of the Rockies, backed water for 30 miles to make up what is now the Fontana Lake. Numerous boat ramps are available.

Fontana Lake is located in the western North Carolina. Appalachian Mountains of Graham County and Swain County. Fontana Lake is a 29-mile-long scenic mountain lake with more than 280 miles of shoreline and nearly 11,000 acres of water. The 480-foot-high Fontana Lake Dam on the Little Tennessee River is the tallest dam in the TVA system. The Appalachian Trail, which extends over 2,000 miles from Georgia to Maine, crosses the top of Fontana Lake Dam.

With most of Fontana Lake's 280 miles of shoreline preserved by the the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and USFS Nantahala National Forest, Fontana Lake's breathtaking beauty remains unspoiled. Quiet secluded coves and inlets on Fontana Lake provide excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, or just relaxing and enjoying the view. From the spring's mountain laurel to the glorious colors of fall, Fontana Lake's engaging scenery can be enjoyed year round. Game fish in Fontana include smallmouth and largemouth bass, white bass, walleye, and crappie.

Lake Chatuge

Lake Chatuge is a beautiful clear water lake surrounded by mountains of both Georgia and North Carolina. The sprawling fingers with many islands and coves cover 9000 acres and have 200 miles of shoreline. A great majority of the Lake Chatuge borders USFS national forest or is owned by Tennessee Valley Authority and is undeveloped. Lake Chatuge is known to have good bass fishing and is regularly stocked. Large Canadian geese can often be seen in the spectacular rural and mountain scenery of Lake Chatuge. Lake Chatuge is located on the Hiwassee River in western North Carolina. The reservoir is named after a nearby Cherokee settlement.

Lake Hiwassee

Lake Hiwassee is one of the most picturesque vacation retreat lakes in the southeast. With most of Lake Hiwassee's 163 miles of shoreline preserved by the USFS Nantahala National Forest, Lake Hiwassee's breathtaking beauty remains unspoiled. Quiet secluded coves and inlets on Lake Hiwasse provide excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, or just relaxing and enjoying the view. From the spring's mountain laurel to the glorious colors of fall, Lake Hiwassee's engaging scenery can be enjoyed year round. Bear Paw on Lake Hiwassee is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
