You’ll find a multitude of nearby
activities and attractions including Nantahala and Ocoee river whitewater rafting, mountain biking,
horseback riding, and hiking on the Appalachian Trail among the many
choices. Boating on Nantahala Lake - You may bring your own
boat or jet ski, or rent a pontoon boat. Nearby towns including Andrews and Murphy offer shopping
for antiques and local arts and crafts. Suddenly have the urge for
fine dining? Try the Cole House in downtown Andrews, the Copper Door in
Hayesville, or Doyle’s Cedar Hill in Murphy, NC.
Fishing - A relatively low number of boaters makes Nantahala a great
fishing lake. You'll find walleye, crappie, sunfish, trout and bass
all available for your private fish fry at Moonlight Reflections. And
below the dam, where the river cascades toward the Nantahala Gorge,
you'll find some of the best fly fishing spots in the eastern US.
Horseback riding with several nearby stables, including Lonesome Dove
Stables, offer guided trail riding.
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, in nearby Dillsboro and Bryson City,
offers several scenic excursions. Mountain Biking - The nearby Tsali
trails offer some of the best mountain biking trails. Bikes can be
rented at the Nantahala Outdoor Center .

Which is it? Smoky or Smokey?
We spell it both ways on this web site. So, if you're searching for
vacation rental accommodations and log cabins for rent in the "smokey"
mountains, you'll be sure to find us. Both are common spellings. But
if you want to be correct about it, spell it the way the National
Park Service does — the Great Smoky Mountains.
Smokey the Bear, on the other hand, spells his name the other way.
And if you're wondering about "Smokeys", "Smokys" or "Smokies,"
they're all correct.

Lake Nantahala

Lake Nantahala is nestled in North Carolina's Smoky Mountains
approximately 150 miles from Atlanta, convenient to Franklin, Andrews
